EANS stands for Emergency Assistance to Non-Public Schools. The purpose of the EANS program is to provide services and assistance to eligible private schools to address educational disruption caused by COVID-19. The EANS program was first introduced in December 2020 as part of the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSA) and extended under The American Rescue Plan (ARP).
EANS funding can be used for purchasing educational technology (including hardware, software, and connectivity as well as assistive technology or adaptive equipment. It can also be used to implement public health protocols, including policies in line with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Your school is eligible for EAN funding if (1) It was in existence prior to March 13, 2020 (2) It is a non-profit organization (3) It is accredited, licensed, and operates in accordance with state law (4) It has not received a Payroll Protection Program (PPP) loan on or after December 27, 2020.

Non-public schools can apply through their state’s Educational Agency (SEA) for the EANS funding. The SEA is responsible for allocating the funds. Your state’s governor is the grantee and is responsible for the program’s oversight.
