While tech is meant to make our lives easier, that’s not always reality. But, with a few tips and tricks, you can have your smartphone and computer working more effectively and efficiently.

Whether you’re trying to wipe locations from your photos, restart your computer more effectively, or help with an IT problem, these tips can have your technology working better for you.

Fix Your Phone’s Call Audio

Considering audio is one of the most important parts of the phone, especially when making calls, you would think it would be extraordinary. But that’s not always the case. Whether because the audio is bad or because you’re in a noisy room, it may be difficult to hear someone on the phone.

Luckily, there is a fix for that on the iPhone. Their Voice Isolation mode can take all the background noise away and leave just the voices.

How does it work? Simply dial whoever you want to talk to. When they pick up, swipe down from the top right of your screen. This will take you to the control center. Look for the Mic Mode button and tap on that. From there, choose Voice Isolation and it will stay activated for the entire call, allowing you to hear everything that is being said.

Windows Restart

Whether due to updates or because something isn’t working correctly, everyone restarts their computer now and again. But you might not know this trick. When you go to restart, hold the Shift key before you hit the restart button. Keep holding it until the computer completely shuts down. Then, when it restarts, choose Continue when it turns back on,

What does this do? When you restart a computer, it often keeps some processes and apps running in the background. If you’re looking to clear your RAM completely, use this trick.

Wipe Your Location Before Sharing Photos

If you are posting photos on social media or anywhere online and not wiping your location from them, you might be telling people where you are without meaning to. The metadata can tell them the date you took the photo, where you are, and what your camera settings are. If you took the picture at home, it could tell them where you live.

To stop location sharing when using an iPhone, you simply have to open the image you want to share, go to options, and switch off the location. On an Android, open your image gallery, select the photo, and go to details and select Remove Location Data.

It’s not a difficult task but it can save you a lot of time and trouble.

Your Local Library in Your Phone

While going to the library can be fun and relaxing, with a smartphone, you don’t have to leave your house to access the library. There are numerous apps that give you access to your local library’s resources.

To access e-books and audiobooks from your library, try downloading Libby. Just put in your library card number and you’re ready to go. If you don’t have a library card, you may need to get one in person. It depends on where you live.

Remote IT Help

If you’ve ever tried to walk someone through a tech issue over the phone, you know how difficult it can be for them to understand what to do and for you to understand what the exact problem is. But it may not be such an issue anymore.

Google has a Remote Desktop. To use it, all you have to do is install the browser extension on your computer and the computer you’re looking to assist on. With that installed, you can remotely access the other person’s computer and fix whatever the issue is. It makes the whole process quick and easy.
